Ena Kirchner - Constructing Clay

In a charming atelier in Vienna, the austrian designer Ena Kirchner shapes a unique tapestry of creativity. Armed with a degree in design and product management from the University of Applied Sciences in Salzburg, Ena has been crafting a diverse portfolio since her graduation in 2013. Her artistic pursuits span the realms of graphic design, print projects, and branding, but she also dons the hat of an interior designer, orchestrating the conception, planning, and curation of exhibitions, cafes, and restaurants.

However, it was in 2017, during an experimental foray into the world of clay, that Ena's artistic journey took a profound turn. Drawn to the tactile allure of this medium and the limitless prospects it offered, she decided to redirect her creative focus toward becoming a ceramic artist.

Ena finds her muse in the natural and authentic, a philosophy that reverberates through her choice of materials. She revels in the purity of basic-colored, high-shamotte stoneware, often weaving local found clay, sand, and other indigenous elements into her art. Her innovative spirit even extends to the creation of her own glazes, amplifying the authenticity of her work. Ena's artistic process marries the traditional wheel with the finesse of handbuilding, resulting in an exquisite fusion of contemplation and intuition, steering her toward crafting pieces that harmoniously blend simple geometric forms with aesthetically pleasing decorative elements.

Ena is a fixture in Vienna, both as an artist working and exhibiting in her atelier, and as an instructor sharing her craft at Rami Ceramics, a dynamic collective ceramic studio. Her dedication to her craft shines through in her commitment to producing singular masterpieces and small artistic families, which she primarily offers to local boutiques in Vienna. Her latest collection earned accolades when exhibited at the prestigious 1000 Vases showcase during Salone del Mobile in Milan, solidifying Ena Kirchner as a luminary in Vienna's thriving art and design scene.
